Has anyone asked your employees what keeps them at your company? Has anyone ever asked what might lure key talent away? Have you? If not, why not?
Managers and Owners are afraid they will be unable to do anything anyway, so why ask? The fear of that question will raise more dust than they can settle. The other reason: Time. The urgency to succeed, gives little time to listen let alone ask. ASK — so you don’t have to guess!
- Ask each employee what keeps them at your company or department
- Make a card or note (Word file on laptop) for every employee answer
- Every month, review the cards and ask yourself if you have done for that employee what relates to his or her needs. **Mark this in your calendar to happen monthly – make a plan
This will serve as a reminder of what is important to your employees and what you need to do to make sure they remain a part of your team.
